Organic Seedling Sale Print E-mail

Benefit SCARCE and Grow your own Organic Produce

SCARCE is partnering with local business Sweet Home Organics to offer organically grown vegetable and herb seedlings, with a percentage of SCARCE pre-order seedling sales being donated to SCARCE programs. Seedlings are grown in nearby Villa Park without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetically modified seeds.

Growing and eating your own food reduces your carbon footprint, is a great learning experience for adults and kids alike and is downright tasty!

Options include: Tomatoes – including heirloom varieties; Peppers – hot and sweet varieties; Cucumbers – slicing and pickling varieties, Swiss Chard, Kale and Collard Greens, Summer and Winter Squashes, Herbs and much more.

How to Order: Go to– click the Seedlings heading

  • Order online, where you can pay by credit card or check. Be sure to select SCARCE in the “How did you find us” box on the Checkout screen. Online orders due April 29th.
  • Or fill out the SCARCE paper order form and pay by check. Paper orders due April 12th.

Pick up your seedlings in spring 2014 at a variety of locations in the western suburbs. We’ll have a pick-up and seedling sale at SCARCE on May 10th (more details to come). See for pick-up dates and locations.

Celebrity Bartender - SCARCE Fundraiser Print E-mail

Thank You SCARCE Supporters at The Ivy!

The IVY presented celebrity bartender Jane Hodgkinson last night  (January 19), to raise money for SCARCE and WDSRA.  We especially want to thank Jane, our delightful bartender and good friend, who dreamed up and organized this fundraiser, and Dick O'Gorman, owner of the IVY, for contributing $1 per drink to the cause AND being our wonderful host!  We had a BLAST and made some money, too. "Win-Win" as Kay would say.
