The SCOTTIES® TREES ROCK! Video Contest was designed to energize individual kids or groups to get creative and share why they think trees are an important part of your school community and why planting them is beneficial for everyone. And the best part is, your school can benefit too!

The SCOTTIES® TREES ROCK! Video Contest! awards the winning school with $10,000 for an outdoor school improvement project, along with a fun tree planting event.

SCOTTIES® has also added a separate essay contest this year. Kids can submit an essay up to 150 words and your family and your child’s teacher could each win a $250 gift card!

Cass Junior High in Darien was the "school spotlight" of Pepsico's Recycle Rally Reader.  Sixth grade teacher, Susan Paszkowski, was interviewed about the school's recycling success over the past two years of being involved in Pepsico's Dream Machine Recycle Rally.  The school expects to reach it's year goal of collecting 110,000 recyclables by April with the help of students, parents and neighbors!  Keep up the good work Cass!
The Ultimate Upcycling Contest Print E-mail

Goodwill is holding it's annual Ultimate Upcycling Contest in honor of Mother Earth!  They invite artists, crafters, innovators or anyone interested in creating something upcycled to enter the contest.  The rules are fairly simple, you must use at least 75% of the material used must be purchased from a Goodwill.  Then you create a project and submit a picture. 

Entries must be submitted between March 10-March 23.  Click here for entry guidelines and rules.  Get crafty and good luck!

Villa Park ECC Art Contest Print E-mail

VP Environmental Concerns comission art contest winner-1Jefferson Middle School eight grader, Gema C., won the Villa Park Environmental Concerns Commission (ECC) “Promoting Recycling in Villa Park” Art Contest.  The contest was held to increase and promote recycling in Villa Park.

2013 IL EPA Poster Contest Winner Print E-mail

A Blanca Campuzano North School-1big round of applause for North School 5th Grade student, Blanca C., for being a winner in the 2013 IL EPA Environmental Poster contest!  She described her poster as having a green background featuring hands holding the earth. 

As a winner, she will receive a congratulatory letter, a ribbon and an environmental reference book for the North school library. She also receives an invitation to attend a recognition ceremony in Springfield. After the recognition ceremony, her artwork will remain on display at the Illinois EPA through April 26.

Blanca was encouraged to enter the contest through the active KKids Conservation Club at North School.
