So, What's Up with Helium (Tantalum, Lithium, & Neodymium)?
Institute Day - Friday, March 2, 2012
8:00 am - 2:00 pm
5.0 CPDUs
Did you use your cell phone, Apple iPod or Amazon Kindle today?
When you use an electronic device, you are using natural resources (gold, tantalum, tin, tungsten, etc.) that are seemingly irreplacable and scarce.
These rare earth minerals are crucial to the economy and strategic to our nation and world.
Each plays an important role in our day-to-day lives, affecting people, the planet, and the economy. Yet, most people don't even know that they exist, or that we are using them up.
This workshop has broad applications in earth science, environmental science, social science, technology, and economics. Guest speakers are from business, science, and education.
Teachers in grades 3-12 are invited to join us at Argonne Labs at this STEM workshop (Integrating STEP into Middle School) to discover more about these vital, rare earth resources.
