Inspiring People to Care for the Earth

Reduce - Reuse - Recyle in DuPage County, IL Print E-mail

In DuPage County garbage really is a problem.  We make well over 8 pounds of garbage per person, per day.  Our garbage is hauled to Michigan and Wisconsin to be put into a landfill.  Fortunately, we have many solutions to our garbage problem.  They start with educating about the 3R's and with thinking about our garbage as resources, not trash.  Once we begin looking at our garbage as a resource that can be reduced, reused or recycled, we begin solving the problem.  SCARCE offers many programs to educate the young and old alike in changing the way you look at "trash".

In 2012 we have recycled over 125,000 lbs of electronics.

Total: 125,397 Lbs

We accept electronics for reycling in small quantities during regular business hours.

This Latex Paint disposal Video was made by SCARCE 2012 summer interns, Jackie Boyle (North Central College) and Felicia Speranske (University of Illinois), along with Katie Carpenter (North Central College student). The video clearly explains and demonstrates how to handle leftover latex paint - a common concern.
