DuPage River Sweep
Saturday, May 21 9:00am - noon

Join other volunteers in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the DuPage River Sweep this Saturday. This self-coordinated event has cleaned up more than 200 tons of garbage from the river streams since 1991!
Register for the sweep, join a group or head out on your own to do your part in keeping our waters clean.

New Lawn Care Videos

Healthy & Environmentally Friendly Lawn Practices
The EPA created a new series of videos to help guide homeowners, civic organizations, garden clubs and anyone else interested in establishing eco-friendly lawn practices. The videos cover soil watering, mowing, weed and pest control, fertizlier use, aerating soil and controlling runoff. To view the videos visit www.epa.gov/pesticides/lawncare.

The United States Post Office came out with new Forever stamps. Each sheet of stamps has 15 different Go Green ideas and pictures. Spread the green message each time you send mail!
Stop by the Post Office to pick them up or order them online.

DuPage County is offering a drop off for unused and unwanted latex paint. Only latex paint will be accepted at this location.

It's My Environment Video Project
The EPA is encouraging individuals and groups to make 10 second video clips showing what you do to care for the earth. Each video holds up a sign reading "It's my environment" and then shows the person passing the sign. Together, the videos make one long human chain. You can see examples online and find directions on how to enter your video.

at Whole Foods Market
Whole Foods Market has picked SCARCE to receive their One Dime at a Time donations for the months of April, May and June! When you shop at one of the participating Whole Foods Markets and use a cloth grocery bag, you will have the chance to donate 10 cents to SCARCE with each bag.
Whole Food Market locations participating in One Dime at a Time include Naperville, Hinsdale and Willowbrook!

SCARCE gym shoe recycling collection ends May 20! Gather your holey, stinky, dirty gym shoes to recycle. ![]()

Not accepted: cleats, high heels, flip flops, black soled shoes.
Tie shoes together with laces.
Single shoes are okay.
Any brand of gym shoes accepted.
